Fujian Fried Rice

fu jian fried rice

Hello friends, I’m thrilled to share one of my all-time favorite Chinese dishes – Fujian Fried Rice. This flavorful concoction of fluffy rice, fresh seafood and vibrant vegetables will surely make your taste buds sing with delight.

To make Fujian Fried Rice, you’ll need some cooked rice that has been refrigerated overnight. Doing this helps the grains dry out and makes them easier to stir-fry. You can use any type of rice you like; I personally prefer Jasmine rice for its delicate aroma and fluffy texture.

Next, you’ll need some fresh seafood such as shrimp, scallops or squid. Clean and devein the shrimp before cutting it into bite-sized pieces; alternately you could also use chicken or beef if preferred.

Heat up some oil in a hot wok or skillet and stir-fry the seafood or meat until cooked through. Then add diced onions, garlic, and ginger for extra flavor. Once these are translucent, stir in diced carrots, peas, and red bell peppers for color and crunch. Continue stirring until vegetables are cooked but still slightly crisp.

Now it’s time to add the rice. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and then stir-fry everything until heated through and evenly coated in seasoning. Finish by adding soy sauce, oyster sauce, and an additional pinch of sugar as desired.

To finish the dish, crack in some eggs and stir-fry until cooked and scrambled. Garnish with some chopped green onions or cilantro for additional freshness and flavor.

Experience the warmth and flavor of Fujian Fried Rice straight from the wok! It’s a satisfying dish suitable for any meal of the day, from breakfast to dinner. Feel free to customize it according to your tastes by adding in your desired vegetables and protein sources. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Here are some tips for making the ideal Fujian Fried Rice:

Use cold, leftover rice: This helps dry the grains of rice and prevent them from becoming mushy when stir-fried. Freshly cooked grains tend to be too moist, leading to a soggy dish.

Use a hot wok or skillet: This helps prevent ingredients from sticking together and creates that unique smoky flavor characteristic of Chinese stir-fries.

Cut your ingredients into bite-sized pieces: Doing this ensures everything cooks evenly and quickly, making it simpler to enjoy.

Use High-Quality Ingredients: The success of any stir-fry dish relies on the quality of its components. Use fresh seafood, vegetables, and premium rice to guarantee a delicious final result.

Customize to Your Taste: Fujian Fried Rice is a dish that can be tailored to suit individual preferences. Add in your favorite vegetables and protein sources like mushrooms, bok choy or tofu for an unforgettable flavor explosion!

Fujian Fried Rice is an irresistibly flavorful dish perfect for any meal of the day. It’s simple to make and customizable according to your preferences, making it great for meal planning or batch cooking. Give it a try – I’m sure you’ll love it!
